"Laupitaji" is the Latvian word for "Robbers". An adaptation of Friedrich Schiller's famous play about the possibility of freedom and independence was premiered in a Latvian village in 1818. To those, who do not speak the Baltic languages, "Laupitaji" may sound rather exotically and surely not identifiable.

On laupitaji.com, a network of young German, Latvian and Polish artists, authors, and theorists creates a new platform for internal communication and media publicity. The involved collaborators work mostly in the fields of theatre, new media and literature. Currently, they realize three interdisciplinary projects, reinterpreting Schiller's work under the social conditions of our time.
